I like hundreds of thousands of other Cincinnatians was out in this freezing rain this afternoon doing some last minute shopping. I was absolutely appalled at how clerks and store personnel avoided saying "Merry CHRISTMAS". It is something that comes natural to me this time of year. Two days before the actual celebration. What is with our society. Has it become so commercialized or politically correct that they are afraid to say "Merry Christmas".
Let's not forget the meaning behind this holiday. It isn't about Santa Claus, or mistletoe, or Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer. It is celebrating the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ! It doesn't matter if you are Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Christian or an Atheist. This holiday is about the birth of Jesus, always has been and always will be. It doesn't matter who is in the white house, or what our state of the nation is doing about our economic wellbeing. This holiday is not about buying presents or getting gifts. The only gift we should be grateful for is having each other to share this beautiful holiday with. It is about getting all your family together and pray and share a meal, exchange conversations, hug, kiss and smile at each other. Just being alive because Jesus was born and walked on our earth over 2000 years ago. That is what we are celebrating.
If you are afraid to say "Merry Christmas" then I say this prayer for you.
Dear Lord, Thank you for the gift of choice. The gift of freedom. The gift of air, water, food, friends, family and everything we have come to expect and take advantage of. If it were not for you we wouldn't have any of this. And for that I am truly grateful. Please continue to watch over all of us as you do. Those who believe as well as those who do not. They have a right to their own opinion. Will they have a place in the after life with you? That is entirely up to you Lord. I do pray my soul to take when my time comes and I believe you have a place next to you for me. Thank you for showing me the way...Amen.
This is a remarkably decorated home on West Chester Road.
It has it all & says it all. You can't miss it. It is about 1/2 mile from Rt 42 heading West across from the pay fishing lake.
The lights at this home are so massive that I had to stitch two photos together to show you the whole thing. I don't have a wide enough angle lens to do it in one shot. It must take them a couple of weeks to put all these lights up. Someday I will.
God Bless You and pray for all of our troops to come home safe and for our Country leaders to make the right choices to help us get through this turmoil and Let's keep Christ in Christmas.
