This week I am featuring St Saviour church in Rossmoyne. The original Church was a two story draftsman barracks building from the Wright plant in Evendale in 1947. Later that year this brand new parish held its first festival and raised $6,000. In 1950 the new school was built and in the fall of 1955 a new convent was built to house 20 Sisters of Charity.
In 1958 the small barracks church could no longer accommodate this growing parish, so a permanent church building was planned and the first mass was celebrated in the new church basement structure. Thanksgiving day 1962 the first mass was celebrated in the completed superstructure of the new church.
In 1994 church renovations began. Early1995 the celebration of the mass was moved to the undercroft while the renovation work was being done. In October of 1995 the new worship space was dedicated.
St Saviour parishioners continue to celebrate the spirit of cooperation, which has sustained them throughout their history which is an undying testament to their faith.
God Bless You and pray for all of our troops to come home safe and for our Country leaders to make the right choices to help us get through this turmoil.
