Ted & Gary attended grade school at St Michaels together and the both graduated from Moeller High School in 1969.

Gary & Ted are the two remaining original members of BlueStone Ivory.

Ted is grandpa to little Ava, married to Jo and owner of 6 chihuahua puppies.

 

  Another very special guest is Dr Tim Fouts.

 Dr. Tim Fouts is the owner Hillside Small Animal Hospital. Gary and Tim have been friends for about 10 years. Dr. Tim has an interesting story...he graduated from Turpin High School in 1983 and Ohio State University college of Veterinary Medicine in 1989.

 His internship was in Los Angeles California where his story gets very interesting. He cared for the pets of some very famous people...I will let Dr Tim tell us all about it.

 

 

Dr Tim and Ted have a lot in common too. They both play guitar...Tim humors himself with his guitar, Ted plays professionally and both are avid golfers. Dr Tim says he will play golf every chance he can. Ted has always played golf too.

 We should talk about Tim and Ted teaming up together for the Dragonfly Foundation golf tournament coming up on Monday May 14th. Maybe the Rock & Roll Real Estate Hour can sponsor them?

Summer is over, but plants are still producing. What can I do?

Summer is gone. We are very grateful for the extensive garden this year. 50 tomato plants, 50 pepper plants, beans, zucchini, squash, carrots, onions, lettuce, spinach and sun flowers. Everything I planted was started by seed. No plants were purchased. We have a lot of tomatoes and peppers that was dehydrated and ready to grind and use in powder form. I am especially fond of my "Fresh Heat" hot pepper powder that I will be producing soon.

I did end up with a few pepper plants that got a late start and didn't make it to the garden. Now it is getting too cold to leave outside. What can I do?

I need a break from cold weather

I can only take so much cold weather. How about you?

Snow is predicted to come hard and heavy today. There is nothing we can do about that. I'ts Mother Nature right? We can put ourselves in a different place for a few minutes though.

That is why I made this video late this past summer. To share with you on a day like today.

I call it "Playful Insects". Self explanatory but very relaxing. I hope it warms you up just a little today.

The true meaning of Thanksgiving.

How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!!   It is FREE and it only takes a second.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these?  Whether you are for or against the war, our soldiers over there need to know we are behind them.

This takes just 10 seconds and it's a wonderful way to say thank you.  Please take the time and please take the time to pass it on for others to do.  We can never say enough thank you's.

New equipment can be a challenge

My Cannon Power Shot S60 point and shoot camera died. It was 4 years old. Time for newer technology. The one benefit of the S60 was that it came with a 28 mm wide angle lens. I hate to look at house photos on the MLS (Multiple Listing Service) and all they can fit into the photo is part of a wall and a chair. That is because the photographer (usually the listing agent) is using a standard 40 mm lens.

I searched and researched and found a terrific camera with all the latest stuff. A Panasonic DMC-ZS3. This camera is a 10 mega pixel, 25 - 300 mm wide angle to 12x optical zoom. The real cool thing about this camera is it records HD movies in stereo with an active zoom. This is tremendous for a very small hand held point and shoot. It is so automatic there are very few self settings available. It does everything automatically. And it does it well too.

I call this photo "Fresh Picked Peppers" That is what they are right out of my garden. Boy are they hot. Jalapeno, Habenero, Holy Moley, Cayenne, little Hot Chilies and Hot banana. I love it spicy and hot.

This camera can fit an entire room into a small photo. Watch for my next listing and see how much of a room will fit into my photos.

It's not just about how much content you can fit into a photo, but the lighting and staging has everything to do with a pleasing photo. This basket of peppers is a very pleasing photo. Don't you think it could be framed and hung on the kitchen wall somewhere? I did not use the flash. This is all natural. Nice mixture of colors and different shapes filling the basket just so.

Here is my segway back to a real estate topic... I like my real estate hot too. And the market is really heating up. I am now working with a full complement of buyers. From first timers planing to take advantage of the $8,000 tax credit to investors who are looking to take advantage of the buyers market and wholesale a few handyman special rehab style homes for some quick cash.

There is a deal out there for everyone. You need to know where to look and that is where my expertise comes in. I know where to find them. If they are out there I will find them.

Our Family reunion

Fridays are for fun and this post is about the fun I had at our family reunion last Sunday. This really has nothing to do with real estate. It has a lot to do with family values. It is primarily for my family on my wife's side. But you can all follow along if you like. Family values and real estate values can follow some if the same principals..

This past Sunday on August 9th my wife Mary Jo's family the McCarthy clan held the annual family reunion. This was the 2nd year to have it in Blue Ash in the park behind the community center on Cooper Rd just off Reed Hartman Highway. Almost everyone was in attendance including a few favorite boyfriends (Judd & Matt) and a couple of family pets. And most importantly the latest member of the clan...little Alex. 

 Last year I totally forgot to get copies of the family portrait to everyone. So this year lets see who reads my blog. I will still try to make copies and distribute them but this way everyone will have a chance to see it without having to wait a whole year.  Not a bad looking group.

We really have fun at our reunion. Each year a different branch of the family is in charge of entertainment. They are to provide the games to play. Of course we always have the traditional corn hole tournament. Last year however we veered away from tradition and tried Hillbilly golf. We all had plenty of food. Everyone is responsible for their main course and this year everyone brought a dish to put on the share table. That was good.

Recycling gone wild

 

Real estate signs are very branded with their own logo's and distinct colors.

You can usually determine what company a particular FOR SALE sign belongs to even from a distance.

This sign gave me a big belly laugh when I got close enough to see that it was a recycled RE/MAX sign being used by a FSBO (For Sale By Owner).

I can understand one reason FSBO's are selling themselves is to save money. However at the expense of someone else seems a little unfair.

 

During the 18 years I was with RE/MAX and now as an agent with GROUP Realtors I am responsible for the purchasing and maintaining of all my own signs. The average For Sale sign cost about $45.00. I take very good care and account for all my signs especially in today's struggling market.

FSBO's definitely need our help...but this is not the usual way to help them out by letting them borrow and recycle our signs for their personal gain.

The REALTOR Magazine offers eight reasons FSBO's need Realtors.

I am always ready and willing to help anyone that asks for my help especially FSBO's. However, if they want to use my signs it comes as a package deal. To get to use my sign they get my expertise in helping them price, market, present, report, negotiate and close the deal for them. That is what I love to do and am very good at it. Just ask any of my past clients.

The West Chester Township wins the basketball game.

Here is the story. Two people a couple of neighborhoods over from my home got into an argument because one of them didn't like the kids playing basketball and making so much noise. The police were called and the complainant won the argument because he dug deep into the township ordinances and found that permanent basketball hoops were not allowed in county right-away. Guess what...it had to be removed. It was and the person that was the defendant got upset and said, "If mine has to be removed then they all are going to be removed".

He drove all the neighborhoods and reported where all the basketball hoops were planted, reported them and made the township remove them. That included ours that has been at the end of our cul-de-sac for over 30 years. I play on it. My kids play on it and so do my grand kids as do many other people in our neighborhood. None of us wanted it to go. But it is now gone. END OF STORY...Not if my youngest daughter has anything to do about it. We are making plans. Stay tuned and hang on. It may become a bumpy ride.

No place to park in Sharonville

This is one of the first signs of almost summer. Sharonville's 31st Annual Antique and Classic Car Show that happened yesterday Sunday April 27, 2008. This is usually a huge event. In fact you cannot find a place to park anywhere downtown Sharonville. But once you get there it is really fun. This year they had over 500 old, antique and classic cars from all around the tri-state area.

                         For as long as I have lived in and near Sharonville this was the first time I attended the Car Show.  It was quite and experience. There were hundreds of people, lots of food & drinks and music by a DJ. All in all it was fun to walk around and gawk at all the old cars.  There is a lot of time and money involved in this hobby for those who participate.

That's right Skagit Valley 60 miles north of Seatle Washington has their 25th Annual Tulip Festival from April 1 through April 30th 2008.

These Tulips as with any colorful flowers will make a huge difference in the way your home and yard will look this summer. You want to plant something...just anything that brings color to your yard or garden.
